Best website email extractor tools in 2026: price and billing compared
"Website email extractor" covers two different jobs, and the right tool depends on which one you have. Search volume is small (US Google Ads data shows about 90 searches a month for "website email extractor", 2026-11-01), so this is a niche guide, but buyers who search it are commercial: the same data shows a $8.46 suggested bid.
First decide: published addresses or looked-up addresses
- Published: the tool opens the site and reads the addresses printed on it (contact page, footer, imprint). Cheap, but if the company publishes only a contact form you get nothing.
- Looked up: a database or finder tool returns people and addresses it holds or infers, which can include addresses not printed on the site. Priced per credit, usually far dearer per address.
Comparison
| Tool | Free tier | Paid price | Billing unit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hunter | 50 credits a month | Starter $49 a month ($34 a month billed yearly) for 2,000 credits; Growth $149 ($104 yearly) for 10,000; Scale $299 ($209 yearly) for 25,000 | 1 credit per email found via Domain Search, Email Finder or Bulk Email Finder. Bulk Domain Search: 1 credit covers up to 10 emails. Not found, no charge. Verification is 0.5 credit. |
| Snov.io | Trial: 50 credits a month; bulk search, API and export are not included on it | Starter $39 a month list (headline shows $29.25, apparently the annual rate) for 1,000 credits; Pro S $99 (headline $74.25) for 5,000; Pro M $189 for 20,000 | Credits; the FAQ states one credit costs 3.9 cents on Starter and about 0.9 cents on Pro M. The page does not state the per-search credit cost for domain search directly. |
| Contact Details Scraper (Apify Store, by vdrmota) | Apify Free plan includes $5 of platform usage a month | $0.002 per page processed on the Free tier, falling to $0.000378 on the top Apify plan, plus $0.001 per GB of memory at start | Per page, not per email: you pay for a page whether or not it holds an address. 66,285 users on the Store listing. |
| Data Gleaner Website Contact Details Scraper (ours) | Apify Free plan $5 of usage a month | $0.002 per website | Per website where at least one email was found. Sites with no email are returned and not charged. 56 users on the Store listing. |
A measured test: 50 small-business domains, 2026-11-01
Status: our result is in; the rival Actors were not run. We tried to run the two most-used website contact Actors (Contact Details Scraper by vdrmota, 66,285 users, and Email & Phone Extractor by anchor, 8,280 users) on Apify cloud, and Apify refused both with the error public-actor-disabled: Your current plan does not support running public Actors. Our account is on a developer plan that can run only our own Actors. Running them needs a paid Apify plan, so we have not measured them and will not guess. When we have, the same 50 domains will be run with each Actor's default settings and added to this table. Until then, any claim of the form "ours finds more emails than X" would be unsupported, and we do not make it.
Method. 50 domains from 12 Google Maps searches run with our Google Maps Leads Actor on 2026-11-01 (5 US cities, 4 UK, 3 Australian; plumbers, electricians, roofers, HVAC, landscapers, builders, painters; 8 places each, only places with a website; directory and social-media pages dropped; picked in rotation so the mix is 17 US, 17 UK, 16 AU). Selected before any result was seen and not filtered by outcome. Run: Website Contact Details Scraper build 0.1.75, {"websites": [...]} only, default settings, Apify cloud datacenter IPs, 1,024 MB. A "business email" here is any address found that is not on a free webmail domain (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, outlook, icloud); gmail addresses are counted in the first row only, because small trades often use them.
| Measure (ours, n = 50) | All | US (17) | UK (17) | AU (16) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Domains with at least one email | 35 (70%) | 9 (53%) | 14 (82%) | 12 (75%) |
| Domains with at least one non-webmail business email | 32 (64%) | 9 (53%) | 11 (65%) | 12 (75%) |
| Emails per domain (all 50) | 0.86 | 0.65 | 1.00 | 0.94 |
| Domains with at least one phone | 40 (80%) | 11 (65%) | 14 (82%) | 15 (94%) |
Time and cost. The 50-domain run took 73 seconds. It billed 34 sites with an email at $0.002, so $0.068 for the 50, or $1.36 per 1,000 domains at this hit rate (sites with no email are free, so cost follows hit rate; if every domain had an email it would be $2.00). Apify recorded 34 billed sites against 35 domains with at least one address in the output; we have not checked why the one site differs.
Where it fell short. 7 of 50 sites (14%) could not be fetched at all from Apify's datacenter IPs (5 connection errors, one HTTP 500, one HTTP 520), and 4 of those 7 were US sites, which is why the US column is lowest. We re-ran exactly those 7 with the Actor's opt-in residential-proxy retry switched on: 0 of 7 recovered, at $0.00006 of extra platform usage for the 7 (about $0.009 per 1,000 domains) and no Actor charge. The retry only fires when a site answers 403, 429 or 503 or shows a bot-check page, and these sites never answered. Fetching them again from an ordinary home connection with a plain request also failed (protocol errors, connection errors and an HTTP 520), so they look broken or hostile to automated requests rather than blocked only from datacenters. We did not try to disguise our requests. Four of the 35 addresses were on gmail. One run of 50 is a small sample: one domain moves a rate by 2 points and the 95% interval around 70% is roughly 56 to 81%, so read the rates as ballpark, not as a ranking.
Recall, checked by hand. The 9 sites that loaded with no usable address were then read directly (home page plus up to three contact, about or quote pages, plain requests with an honest user agent, robots.txt respected). Result: 5 publish only a contact form (3 with an on-page form, 2 with an embedded form frame), 1 publishes a phone number and no email, and 2 did publish an address that the Actor missed: both were addresses on a different domain from the website (a parent group's sales address in a mailto link and structured data on one site, and an address on a short brand domain on the other), which the Actor's "belongs to this site" filter dropped. One site (an electrician franchise) refused our plain request with a 403, so it stays unverified. One of the 35 sites counted as a hit was not: the only item returned was an Instagram handle shaped like an address, and the real address on that same site is the one missed, so the true count of valid addresses found is 34 of 50, or 68%. Among the 42 sites we could both load and read by hand, 36 publish an email and the Actor found 34 of them: recall 94% (34 of 36), with the 6 others genuinely having no email to find. This checks only static page content and does not test whether the addresses are deliverable.

What this means in money
For 1,000 company websites, using only the published prices above:
- Ours: $0.002 per hit. If 600 sites publish an email, 600 x $0.002 = $1.20. Our own tests found an address on roughly 50 to 70 percent of small-business sites and less on large brands.
- Contact Details Scraper: if it processes 4 pages a site on the Free tier, 4,000 pages x $0.002 = $8, before the start fee, whatever the hit rate. The pages-per-site figure is our assumption; it depends on your settings.
- Hunter, if each site returns one email at 1 credit: 1,000 credits. On Starter that is 1,000 x ($34 / 2,000) = $17 when billed yearly or 1,000 x ($49 / 2,000) = $24.50 monthly, and it uses half the month's allowance.
- Snov.io at its stated 3.9 cents a credit on Starter: $39 for 1,000 credits, if one credit covers one lookup.
When each is the right choice
- Hunter or Snov.io: you want a person's name and an address, verification, and sequences or a CRM in the same product, and you can pay by the seat or the month. Their free tiers are enough to try 50 lookups.
- Contact Details Scraper: you want the most widely used Actor and extras such as social-profile enrichment. Check what a normal run charges, because the price is per page.
- Ours: you have a list of domains, want the address the company itself publishes, and want to pay only when an address is found. It does not verify deliverability, does not infer addresses that are not on the site, and has far fewer users than the larger Actors above, so test 20 sites of your own first. See a real five-site run, misses included.
Check your target country's rules on unsolicited email before sending.
Want it done for you? Send us your list of websites and get the company mailboxes back as a CSV ($49 per 1,000 sites).
Try it: Website Contact Details Scraper on Apify. $0.002 per site with an email, nothing for sites without one. The Apify free plan includes monthly credit, so a test run costs nothing out of pocket.
