Apollo alternatives for small teams: pick by how you work

By Keencrest · 2026-11-01

Apollo is a large sales platform: a contact database, sequencing, a dialer and CRM sync. Many small teams only use one slice of it, the contact data. This guide helps you work out whether you need an alternative, and which kind.

First, decide what you actually use

The pay-per-result alternative

If your list is businesses rather than named individuals, a scraper that reads each company's own website is cheaper and always current, because the address comes from the source. Our Website Contact Details Scraper charges $0.002 per site where an email is found. A 1,000-company list with 600 hits is $1.20 with no seat licence. In a test of five well-known sites it found emails on three, which shows the limit: if a company publishes only a contact form, there is nothing to return.

Where a scraper is the wrong choice

In those cases keep a database subscription. Many teams run both: the database for named people at target accounts, a scraper for long-tail local and SMB lists.

A cheap way to decide

  1. Export 100 companies you already contact.
  2. Run them through a scraper ($0.20 at most).
  3. Compare against what your current tool returns for the same 100.

If coverage matches, you may be paying for features you do not use. If not, you have measured why you pay.
