Is this the number of Wix sites worldwide?
No. It covers only sites on the country's own domain (.au, .uk, .nz, .ca, .ie) that had a homepage in the crawl. Sites on .com are not counted, so real totals are higher.
Where are the lists?
Per-site lists with evidence are on the Wix websites list and Squarespace websites list pages (Australia and UK have free 25-row samples).
Method
- Population: every registered domain on the country TLD that has a successful (HTTP 200) homepage capture in Common Crawl CC-MAIN-2026-43, counted once per domain (column 2).
- Sample: a random sample of up to 4,000 of those homepages per country (the table gives the exact n; the same draw is used for both platforms). To save reads, homepages whose archived size is too small to hold the platform's markup are skipped and counted as non-matches, which can understate slightly.
- Detection: the platform's own markers in the archived homepage HTML. A site that hides these, or serves its homepage from a different domain, is missed.
- Interval: Wilson 95% interval on the sample share, scaled by the number of domains. A different crawl month will give somewhat different numbers because sites come and go.
- Politeness: archived pages are read from Common Crawl with back-off on throttling; no site was fetched directly and no proxies were used.
