Get a Microsoft Teams alert when your brand is in the news

By Keencrest · 2026-11-01

Data: The GDELT Project. GDELT permits commercial use and redistribution with a citation and a link, and every row the Actor returns carries that citation. The Actor is not affiliated with or endorsed by GDELT.

Same workflow as the Slack version, with a Microsoft Teams Workflows webhook as the last step. The GDELT News Monitor runs in watch mode, so each hourly run returns only new articles, and a quiet hour posts nothing and costs nothing.

Download: n8n-gdelt-brand-alert-teams.json.

Set up

  1. In Teams, open the Workflows app and create a flow from the template that posts to a channel when a webhook request is received. Copy the HTTP POST URL it gives you.
  2. In n8n: Workflows, Import from file, choose the JSON.
  3. Create a Header Auth credential (Name Authorization, Value Bearer plus your own Apify token) and pick it in the Apify node.
  4. Edit keywords, paste the Teams URL into the last node, activate.

What differs from the Slack file

The Code node writes Markdown links, and the last node posts the message as an Adaptive Card (a message with one TextBlock attachment), the payload a Workflows webhook trigger expects. The older Office 365 connector webhooks are being retired by Microsoft, so this file targets the Workflows kind only. The watch name is brand-alert-teams.

Cost and limits

$0.002 per article returned, with maxTotalChargeUsd=1 per run and maxItems 100. Your Teams workflow may add its own limits on request size and rate; at most 15 articles go into each message.

What was tested

Structure-checked, and the Code node run in Node on a sample article. It was not imported into n8n and nothing was posted to Teams: the Adaptive Card payload follows Microsoft's documented format, but if your workflow rejects it, tell us the error message and we will fix the file. The Actor's watch mode was tested on the Apify platform.

Try it: GDELT News Monitor on Apify. $0.002 per article returned, no start fee; reading files and filtering is free. The Apify free plan includes monthly credit, so a test run costs nothing out of pocket.
